Zomato - your search for best local restaurant should end here !

Posted on 01:04 by Unknown
Are you searching for the best local restaurant to dine out this weekend ? Bored of same food & willing to try something different ? Or want to know what's happening around you and be a part of it ? If your answer is yes for any one of these questions, Look no further, Zomato.Com is the perfect place for you!

"Zomato is all about food and lifestyle and where you can find the best of it." - This is what the 'Zomato People' proudly say about their service.

Yes, Zomato.Com is an online food portal & lifestyle guide with a huge restaurant directory. Zomato covers ten major cities across the country; Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh. Started in July 2008 with only 500 restaurant listings in Delhi NCR, today, Zomato is the largest food portal in India with more than 17000 restaurant listings !

Zomato lists menus, ratings and contact details for all listed restaurants. Restaurants are reviewed by editorial team as well as the real food lovers, just like you ! Thus helping you to decide the best restaurant in town. They have recently added events section which provides complete information about events happening around you.

Let me quickly point out three things I loved about Zomato.Com :

~ Complete information about all restaurants listed. With general info and contact details, get the view of menu card as well as inside view of the restaurant through photos !

~ Easy to Search - Explore restaurants around the city by cuisine, location and your mood.

~ Access on the go - Have iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, or Nokia ? Dedicated app is available for these devices ! Or just go to m.zomato.com on any phone to access Zomato, it is that simple !

And here are the three things that I would like Zomato.Com to introduce :

~ Too much of information on a single web page makes it look messy. So, using drop down menus and reducing information could make page look better.

~ Personalisation - Suggestions based on user favorites.

~ Available app for google chrome is just a shortcut. A full fledged app is much desired [ like BBC good food ].

Get connected with Zomato on Facebook and Twitter. So, where are you heading to party this weekend ? ;)

Wow , Island that floats !!

Posted on 23:10 by Unknown
Man always thrive to do something new, and now he has reached a new mark by creating Floating Islands !! The World's largest artificial Floating Island was inaugurated on the Han River in Seoul, South Korea last week. The Floating Island, called Viva, is one among the three man made islets (other two are Vista & Tera) on the River.

This island is the second largest of all three covering more than 3,000 square metres and features a convention hall having the capacity to hold 700 members, an array of lobbies, restaurants, video game cafe and many more attractions so that visitors can have the beautiful scenary of the Han River. At night, the building exterior is lit up with colourful lights. These Islands floats on water and will be chained by strong weather proof chains to make it secure Another nice thing about this structure is, it is completely driven by solar energy !

The other two Islands are still under construction and are expected to be made public by september. It is designed to be a hub for cultural events & exhibitions. It has already started to attract crowds from far away. If you are planning to travel somewhere in next few months, consider Seoul as an option, and by the time you travel, the Island trio would be made public and you could witness the opening of Floating Islets first than anyone else before :)

Everything is Art !

Posted on 09:00 by Unknown

Have you seen Tower of Babel ?! Sorry, that was a bad joke, but have you seen Tower of Babel made out of books ?! This time I am serious !! Yes, if you haven't seen it yet, take a look at it here. An artist from Argentina, named Marta Minujin is the lady behind this beautiful structure.

At the international book fair in Buenos Aires, Marta has installed this structure. This installation is 82 feet tall and is of helical structure of 7 stories high covered with 30,000 books in different languages and dialects that reminds us of the mythical Tower of Babel of more than 4000 years !

Public were allowed for free to this event and the dissembled books from this Tower were given to public.[I mean only entry was free, but books were sold !]

Marta was proud of her work and she expressed it in this way..

“A hundred years from now, people will say ‘there was a Tower of Babel in Argentina … and it didn’t need translation because art needs no translation"

She believes that everything is an art and it was the inspiration for her to create this Tower. At the same time, UNESCO honoured the city by naming it as World Book Capital for 2011 !!
